DESIGN: Fredrik Paulsen

Just as the Dining Chair makes no excuses for its heft, Fredrik Paulsen’s Dining Table is similarly forthright about its purpose. This is a piece of furniture designed to work hard for generations to come. The lively grain of solid pine is especially present over the table’s large surface areas whilst the simple logic and artistry of its making is enjoyably explicit.

All Vaarnii products are locally made by a small number of expert Finnish makers. All pine wood is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests, PEFC certi­fied and slow grown.

Pine is very characterful material. As a result of the naturally occurring oils and resins, pine will change colour as it ages. Heartwood and sapwood will start aging at a different speed resulting in gorgeous stripy patterns. The color will gradually even out and mature to a beautiful honey tone over the course of years.

Although our pine wood is the hardest soft wood you can find, it will dent and scratch over time. We ask you to embrace these characterful signs of aging.

Our raw material is hand selected for maximum quality. Because of the nature of wood, each product has a unique grain, colour, and pattern.

DESIGN: Henrik Tjaerby

The innovative heat-treated pine used in the Osa Outdoor Dining Table is stronger, lighter and better suited to withstanding the elements than its indoor alternative. Henrik Tjaerby’s design uses a standardised T shaped section and minimal components in a modular system. The ingenuity of construction means that Osa Tables and Benches can be span great lengths. Osa is an explicitly functional design that is robust, resilient and adaptable.

Our outdoor products are made of heat-treated pine, Lunawood ThermoWood®. Thermowood is a non-toxic material produced by using only heat, and steam. 

Products will start reacting with UV light very quickly and begin changing colour towards a beautiful silver tone once unboxed. The products will reach their final color after approximately one year outdoors.

DESIGN: Studiomama

Norppa is a rocking toy that takes its name and form from the endangered Finnish Norppa seal. Whilst all Vaarnii products are designed to last, this concept is especially appropriate for Norppa, an object that should be cherished by multiple generations. Norppa is skilfully milled from solid pine with the distinctive grain adding contour and expression to the seal shape and face. Every characterful Norppa Rocking Toy will be subtly different from the next.

DESIGN: Cecilie Manz

The Kolmio Dining Table is sturdy and stable, and it looks that way too. ‘People will intuitively understand Kolmio as a very solid piece of furniture’ says Cecilie Manz. In order to achieve such great expanses of wood, Manz has created a unique sandwich of material where an inner layer of offcut pine is encased by perfect planks. The result is an impressively economical and engineered material. Kolmio is strong and severe, designed to take everything the day, the year, the decade, can throw at it.

Just like it’s partner, the Kolmio Dining Table, this bench is designed for everyday use. Beneath its seemingly straight-forward form is a unique engineering solution; a sandwich of material made from an inner layer of offcut pine encased by perfect planks. Everything is revealed in the Kolmio’s distinctive and strong profile, only a slight chamfer edge is conceded to soften the severity.

DESIGN: All the way to Paris

Hang them, turn them and make them your own. The pin boards are designed as a flexible module system in three sizes. Hang them in your home, pin your memories and create the visual image you want. These pin boards also have an acoustic sound absorbing effect, so they can be used in offices, at home or maybe at a recording studio.

ANZA meaning ‘to sit at ease’ in Japanese, ANZA is a seating collection comprising a pouffe, bench and coffee table. To complete the seating ensemble, with its high-gloss lacquer and oiled oak finishing, the designers also added their own low coffee table based on a similar design vocabulary and featuring a durable Carrara marble top.

This collection, part of a wider modular system, aims at enhancing both domestic and public environments.

With a recognizable tubular approach, the TUBBY TUBE STOOLS build on the same design language as Faye Toogood’s iconic SPADE CHAIR. “Tubby yet elegant” is the way to describe the TUBBY TUBE STOOL collection of three heights. A unique composition of bulky round tubes with a wooded seat or a chunky soft seat pad – a play on volume meeting a tubular frame that creates a classic yet contemporary expression. Place the stools by your kitchen counter, in a bar or restaurant or wherever you need comfortable yet elegant seating spaces.

The SB38 is designed by Egon Eiermann, and express a simplicity, which can only be found in his designs. Because of this minimalistic design, you can fit it into every room and space. Goes well with the SE68 if some extra guests decide to show up.

The Hardie stool is a clean-lined and no-nonsense piece, its classic circular seat balanced by three bent metal tubular columns. One of our favourite designers, Philippe Malouin, adds a practical ourish to the stool, coupling the columns so they join up to ensure a rigid, stable and hard-wearing signature to his design. The stool is a versatile addition to any space, and comes in three versions: low, bar height and counter height. The choice of seat is yours; choose between solid ash wood or upholstery in leather or fabric.

Egon Eiermann designed the S197 R20 counter office chair back in 1949. With its height-adjustable function, this sophisticated office chair will give you the perfect seating at any table.

The German architect Egon Eiermann designed this chair for the World Expo 1956 in Brussel and it has been used by architects and creative people ever since.

Designed in 1952 the SE18 folding chair by Egon Eiermann is an extremely functional chair that requires very little space. This solid folding chair has become a part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York underlining its importance as a design object. The SE18 Folding chair won The Good Design Award at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1953 and the silver medal at the Triennale in Milan in 1954.

DESIGN: Egon Eiermann.

The SE42 was designed back in 1949 by Egon Eiermann, and is known to be quite a masterpiece. The chair, with its timeless design, give a sophisticated look with its curves and twists and would fit into any dining room.

DESIGN: Faye Toogood.

Clear, no-nonsense lines and a sturdy steel frame. Faye Toogood has an eye for removing clutter, and her sculpted designs celebrate the rural past even as they partake of the urban contemporary and look towards the future.

You can see this trademark fusion of traditional and contemporary in the way the sheer lines of the table top (18 mm thin, of Oregon pine or black stained ash) seem to float above the subtly rounded black steel or raw aluminum frames.

The TUBBY tube dining table, builds on the motifs of the same designer’s iconic SPADE chair, with tubular legs that evoke the down-to-earth strength and practicality of garden implements. The table frame has adjustable feet, to even out crooked floors.

A distinctive and enduring artefact that would suit your dining room, or your meeting room.

DESIGN: Fräg Woodall.

Anything named after the famous beach will have the waveform at its heart. Like the Opera House in Australian designer Fräg Woodall’s hometown of Sydney.

The BONDI chair is inspired by Woodall’s earliest memories of watching artisans at work, fascinated by the way they joined and fitted timber. The seat is neat, precise and no-frills, with a crisp, beach-friendly curve. A touch eccentric yet witty, fresh and confident, this is a hard-working, cheerful and characterful chair that would sit just as comfortably in a busy restaurant or café as in a kitchen or dining space at home.

The Plié Media Unit is part of the 2019 German Design Awards-winning Plié shelving system that offers simple solutions for organising, displaying and storing your belongings.
Designed by Cesare Bizzotto and Tobias Nitsche, the Plié Wall Mount uses the least amount of powder-coated aluminium possible which, folded, results in a lightweight, yet highly robust structure. In this case, the unit is already pre-assembled.
The Media Unit offers added flexibility thanks to its four swivel casters, making it easy to move, while its back panel allows you to conceal connection cables.
