The SE68 dining chair was originally designed as an orchestra chair back in 1951. The chair has become an iconic piece of furniture valuing comfort and aesthetics and has become very popular among architects and other creative people. The comfort is unique whether it is upholstered or not.

Designed in 1952 the SE18 folding chair by Egon Eiermann is an extremely functional chair that requires very little space. This solid folding chair has become a part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York underlining its importance as a design object. The SE18 Folding chair won The Good Design Award at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1953 and the silver medal at the Triennale in Milan in 1954.

This chair is a mix between the classic milking stool and the handle of a spade. Pile your towels on it in the bathroom, use it to unlace your muddy boots in the hallway or exhibit it as a minimalistic artwork in the living room… You could also use it as a chair in your dining room.

Clear, no-nonsense lines and a sturdy steel frame. Faye Toogood has an eye for removing clutter, and her sculpted designs celebrate the rural past even as they partake of the urban contemporary and look towards the future.

You can see this trademark fusion of traditional and contemporary in the way the sheer lines of the table top (18 mm thin, of Oregon pine or black stained ash) seem to float above the subtly rounded black steel or raw aluminum frames.

The TUBBY tube dining table, builds on the motifs of the same designer’s iconic SPADE chair, with tubular legs that evoke the down-to-earth strength and practicality of garden implements. The table frame has adjustable feet, to even out crooked floors.

Anything named after the famous beach will have the waveform at its heart. Like the Opera House in Australian designer Fräg Woodall’s hometown of Sydney.

The BONDI chair is inspired by Woodall’s earliest memories of watching artisans at work, fascinated by the way they joined and fitted timber. The seat is neat, precise and no-frills, with a crisp, beach-friendly curve. A touch eccentric yet witty, fresh and confident, this is a hard-working, cheerful and characterful chair that would sit just as comfortably in a busy restaurant or café as in a kitchen or dining space at home.

Our Bar Stool has instant presence, this is an unapologetically brawny chair. But despite its heft, the Bar Stool has been designed for comfort and makes an enjoyable seat for long and loose dinners. Such refined brutality is typical of Paulsen’s work. As is a love of pine; a material he describes as ‘psychedelic’ because of its lively natural grain. It is best enjoyed over large surface areas, says Paulsen – a theory put into practice here.

Just like the AA Bench, the AA Side Table is made from three distinct profiles of solid Finnish pine, skillfully connected together. A direct and unflinching use of material is characteristic of designer Kwangho Lee’s work, the AA series is a prime example of that: Here, pine is the hero. This characterful piece of furniture may be compact but its functions are extensive; use it as a stool, a side table, in groups or alone.

The honest qualities of pine are boldly expressed in Soft Baroque’s Coffee Table. The satisfyingly rational joints of traditional Finnish log houses, themselves a celebration of elementary wooden construction, have been used to decorative effect in this most solid of tables. Round notch joints have been inflated to ‘comic proportions’ by Soft Baroque, who predict that their substantial table will outlive any of its owners and largely be used for dancing on, given its hulking proportions.

The Stilts Side Table consists of a floating volume elevated above the ground. The form is inspired by the vernacular architecture of lakeside cabins common in both Quebec, from where designer Philippe Malouin hales, and in Finland. In the spirit of these informal buildings, over-engineered solutions have been rejected in favour of an intuitive structure. Therefore, the Side Table is simple but effective; a box drawer sits inside a cavity whilst legs support and enclose the volume in a matter-of-fact way; an honest design made from the most honest of materials.

Vaarnii’s Ast stool, designed by Dimitri Bähler, is characterized by an unpretentious design that combines the rustic with the modern. The simple and robust stool consists of thick, sturdy pieces of pinewood, its only decorations being the gently rounded edges and the knots and lively grain typical of pine. The name of the stool, Ast, is German and means “branch”, alluding to the knots that underline the strong yet often overlooked material. In addition to an extra seat, Ast can be used as a nightstand or side table.

The Aizome Cabinet was designed to be a highly functional storage piece suitable for smaller spaces. Quiet, hidden details, including a concealed second handle and a recessed top surface for additional storage, find balance with a bold colour palette. The cabinet acts as a canvas for traditional Japanese colours and finishes, and incorporates sumi ink, red dye, and two shades of Japanese Indigo, Aizome.
