The 1004 Hans Wall Light is a compact and especially functional addition to the Hans series of lights. This smallest member of the family can be used singularly, in small spaces, or in rhythmic multiple, alone, or in concert with other members of the Hans series – wherever the warm glow of pine-filtered light is desired. The construction of these wall lights has been reengineered and uses the best quality pine veneer and sections of solid Finnish pine.

CHARACTERISTICS.

The Hans series of lighting is made in Finland using solid pine for internal structure and the finest pine veneer for exterior surfaces. As every light is handmade using natural material, each object is subject to subtle variations in symmetry. Every Hans light is therefore unique.  Pine is an especially characterful wood. As a result of naturally occurring oils and resins, pine changes colour as it ages. Vaarnii uses both pine heartwood and pine sapwood. These two different types of wood mature at different speeds, resulting in a beautifully stripped surface. This exciting patterning is a temporary stage and should be enjoyed while it occurs. Your Vaarnii pine product will gradually even out to a rich honey tone over the course of several years.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s designs in Pine veneer were the result of intense investigation into the nature of pine veneer, especially in relation to light. Vaarnii has reengineered these classic designs for the contemporary space. The Hans Ceiling Lights are visually bold but physically light, generous in size, and emit an appealing pine-filtered light. The Hans Ceiling Lights are available in two sizes; 42 cm diameter and 55 cm diameter, and feature the graphic concentric circles of plywood that make this series distinct.

The Aizome Cabinet was designed to be a highly functional storage piece suitable for smaller spaces. Quiet, hidden details, including a concealed second handle and a recessed top surface for additional storage, find balance with a bold colour palette. The cabinet acts as a canvas for traditional Japanese colours and finishes, and incorporates sumi ink, red dye, and two shades of Japanese Indigo, Aizome.
