Designed for a friendlier, domestic purpose by studio CP-RV, the aluminium-made KGT is made through stamping, cutting and bending, each process revealing a feature of the product.
Small subtle notches at the bottom corners allow for easier lifting and grabbing. And thanks to stamped feet at the bottom and stamped dishes at the top, multiple KGT can be stacked while keeping their position fixed.
Use it as a breakfast tray. A desk organiser. A tool box. You could even hang it as a frame, or as a shelf. A metal box with a contemporary feel that seamlessly fits in any interior.

Designer Kai Linke, who has a high affinity towards Japan, illuminates the traditional kokeshi dolls and their lean, oval shape. The stylised versions of the carved originals have a ceramic torso, the carefully crafted, handblown glass head radiates in white or dim grey.

The Kokeshi is a masterwork of traditional craftsmanship. Each lamp is handmade and has characteristic features such as irregularities in glass thickness, colour variations, small bubbles or bumps in the glass or the ceramic base.

Kolos is formed in a plaster mould in a pottery where craftsmen apply the glaze and then fire the table. Although shiny and polished to the touch, the material it is made of is evident. The corners absorb less colour and become paler while the pigments are concentrated in the rounded areas, making them darker. Kolos therefore forms a highly decorative side table, combining its function as a furnishing accessory with an artistic value to form a showpiece. Its eccentric aesthetic represents an ironic interpretation of the architecture of the Colosseum.

In Japan I noticed the very strong visual aspect of using Kumiko, Screens that can be ornamental but also used as privacy screens in restaurants. Inspired by the traditional Japanese kumiko screen-craftsmanship, these cabinets combine semi see through screens and a very well crafted cabinet to create an interesting composition and light placed inside will give a warm feeling to the room making the whole cabinet into a lamp of sorts. - Staffan Holm.

The SOWDEN Lamp PL2 has been designed and developed with dual functionality - it can be used both as fixed lighting when connected to a power supply with a USB cable, or as a moveable lamp using the Li-ion batteries supplied.

When used as a fixed lighting, which could be on a bedside table, between books on a shelf or on a office desk, the dual functionality allows direct connection to a power supply with a USB cable, and when even if the batteries are not inserted, the lamp will work perfectly.

If used as a moveable lamp, SOWDEN supplies two 18650 2600mAh Li-ion rechargeable batteries making the lamp convenient in places where electrical connections are not easily available - this gives the possibility to take light safely anywhere indoors or outdoors.

Available in two variations, PL2 has three brightness settings, which can be set by gently touching the top of the lamp - full brightness is 250 lumens maximum from our SOWDEN LightDisc 01.

The two 18650 2600mAh Li-ion rechargeable batteries are easily fitted and are replaceable whenever needed - they can be swapped with fully charged ones rather than relying on recharging with the USB - for example, in restaurants changing the batteries can be done quickly, and customers are never left in the dark.

The light source is a SOWDEN LightDisc 01, and the two 18650 2600mAh batteries are both fully replaceable when required.

It takes approximately four hours to fully charge the batteries.

StudioVisser & Meijwaard describe their conception of lyn as a “graphic interplay between glass and the metal frameworks”. The doorless and diverse series of cabinets and high boards are equivalent to the designers’ ambition to rethink established forms, like they did in their past as fashion designers.
