Bent presents all that is beautiful about glass, illuminated atop a simple frame. The fluidity, transparency and pattern of glass locked into an intriguing abstract form. Perhaps his most loved material; designer Sebastian Herkner has again stretched the capabilities of glass production into a series of sculptural lamps. The bent series utilises simple fluted glass panels, pushing and pulling the still fluid forms into flared and curved shapes. The unique pattern of the thin flutes throughout the panel creates a shield of light, the LED light source within spreading across their glass form. Presented simply stop a black steel frame, these mesmerising glass panels take centre stage.

PROCESS:

Each piece is created from casted and coloured glass sheet, slumped into form. Bubbles, streaks and other variations in size and colour are part of production processes, and not defects in the design or production. The stand and base are produced from powder coated steel.

The intangibility of light converses with the materiality of metal. Bissa Suspension is a lamp that is characterized by an evocative délabré burnished brass structure supported by adjustable steel cables. A Strip LED runs through the sinuous curves generating a trail of light that seems to be suspended in space.

Blowing into a metal form produces a graceful giant that is a testimony to human ingenuity and top-level craftsmanship. Although this creation is a dominant element in any interior, the clear version feels both light and airy. Its honey-golden version then fills the interior with a pleasant ambient light. The Blimp Collection is the result of BOMMA’s first international collaboration with a team of Swiss designers who masterminded it upon their first experience with designing glass. The success of this double premier exceeded all expectations.

SOFT LIGHT, TACTILE CONTROL — THE BLOOPER TABLE LAMP

The Blooper table lamp by Danish designer Mette Schelde is as intuitive as it is beautiful. Turn the disc to switch the lamp on or off, or use it as a dimmer — the rotary action is satisfying and immediate. The hidden LED bulb reflects light into the hollow disc, creating a soft, warm glow that is perfect for small nooks, windowsills, and bedside tables.

Please Wait to Be Seated is a Copenhagen-based design studio dedicated to reissuing and creating furniture and lighting with lasting design value. Their work bridges design heritage with contemporary relevance.

There is an ancient theory that accounted for lunar phases in a different way than we do today. This theory held that the Moon was in fact flat. One side of the Moon was silvery-white, the other side was black, and it was the orbiting of this half-black, half-white Moon around the Earth that caused the lunar phases.

Blue skies is a table lamp composed of a silver base and a Hinoki wood and Tosa-Washi paper reflector. A projected light beam is shot upwards from the base and is caught by the paper shade positioned at an angle directly above. A reflected, meditative glow on a floating disc, highlighting the texture of the paper’s structure. A simple balancing gesture of capturing light which would have otherwise been lost.
