The SE18 is part of MoMA's permanent collection, underscoring its status as a true design icon.

The Spade Chair by Faye Toogood is a design that defies easy categorisation. A mix between the classic milking stool and the handle of a spade, it is at once a functional seat and a sculptural object. Pile your towels on it in the bathroom, use it to unlace your muddy boots in the hallway, exhibit it as a minimalist artwork in the living room — or simply use it as a chair in your dining room.

Clear, no-nonsense lines and a sturdy steel frame. Faye Toogood has an eye for removing clutter, and her sculpted designs celebrate the rural past even as they partake of the urban contemporary and look towards the future.
The sheer lines of the table top — just 18 mm thin, in Oregon pine or stained ash — seem to float above the subtly rounded black steel or raw aluminium frames. The Tubby Tube dining table builds on the motifs of Toogood's iconic Spade Chair, with tubular legs that evoke the down-to-earth strength and practicality of garden implements. The frame has adjustable feet to even out uneven floors.
A distinctive and enduring artefact that suits a dining room or a meeting room equally well.

Anything named after the famous beach will have the waveform at its heart — like the Opera House in Australian designer Fräg Woodall's hometown of Sydney. The Bondi Chair is inspired by Woodall's earliest memories of watching artisans at work, fascinated by the way they joined and fitted timber.
The seat is neat, precise and no-frills, with a crisp, beach-friendly curve. A touch eccentric yet witty, fresh and confident — this is a hard-working, cheerful and characterful chair that sits just as comfortably in a busy restaurant or café as in a kitchen or dining space at home.

The 001 Bar Stool by Fredrik Paulsen carries the same unapologetic mass and presence as its dining chair sibling — scaled and proportioned for counter and bar height seating. Paulsen's love of pine is fully on display: the lively, psychedelic grain of slow-grown Finnish timber is best appreciated across the stool's generous surfaces. Designed for comfort over long sittings, this is a piece that earns its place in any kitchen or bar setting through sheer character and craft.

The 006 AA Side Table by Kwangho Lee for Vaarnii shares the same direct, unflinching use of material as its bench sibling. Made from three distinct profiles of solid Finnish pine, skillfully connected together, the AA Side Table is compact but versatile — use it as a stool, a side table, in groups or alone. Pine is the hero here, and Lee's characteristic restraint lets it speak for itself.

The 005 Lounge Chair by Max Lamb for Vaarnii is a tough piece of furniture — but a hard-as-nails first impression soon gives way to visual softness and physical comfort. Lamb began by investigating pine: how it is grown, sawn, received, sold. His approach thereafter was logical — choosing off-the-shelf sections of wood and piecing them together to create a large surface area and a form of quiet clarity. Material is scooped from the building block-like forms to create two ample convex recesses, revealing the characterful grain within. The result is a strikingly singular chair: 'mathematical in its approach and transparent in its construction.'

The 004 Coffee Table by Soft Baroque for Vaarnii is a bold, unapologetic object. Inspired by the rational joinery of traditional Finnish log houses — themselves a celebration of elementary wooden construction — Soft Baroque has inflated the round notch joint to 'comic proportions', creating a table of extraordinary solidity. The designers predict it will outlast any of its owners, and suggest it is largely suited to dancing on, given its hulking dimensions. The honest qualities of pine are boldly expressed across every surface.

DESIGN: Philippe Malouin
The Stilts Side Table consists of a floating volume elevated above the ground. The form is inspired by the vernacular architecture of lakeside cabins common in both Quebec, from where designer Philippe Malouin hales, and in Finland. In the spirit of these informal buildings, over-engineered solutions have been rejected in favour of an intuitive structure. Therefore, the Side Table is simple but effective; a box drawer sits inside a cavity whilst legs support and enclose the volume in a matter-of-fact way; an honest design made from the most honest of materials.
CHARACTERISTICS.
Pine gets better with age. The colours mature to a deeper palette. The heartwood and sapwood age at different speeds and bring out the natural patterns of the grains. After a few years, pine will settle into a rich and complex honey tone Pine is a soft wood and will get dents and bruises over the years. But don’t think of them as blemishes or flaws. Embrace them. They’re evidence of life lived and furniture loved. Pine isn’t life-proof. It’s proof of life. All our products are locally made by select Finnish makers and specialists. Every pine tree is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests. The wood is hand-selected of the highest quality and each piece has its own unique colours and grain patterns.
